It’s not
a matter of if a chemical spill is going to occur; it’s just a
matter of when! Think about Did you know? Last year alone, there were almost 37,000 spills large enough to require reporting to the federal government. Failure to make the necessary notifications can result in substantial fines. Fuel products require reporting in some situations if only one drop is spilled. Pesticides in some cases require reporting if only one pound is spilled. Do you know what they are? OSHA and EPA strictly regulate who can respond to chemical releases. Without spill response training, your employees will not be allowed to assist you in cleaning up a chemical spill. After a traffic accident regardless of fault any spilled fuel products or chemical products must be cleaned up! Fire department personnel will insist that the spilled material be properly recovered. If your employees don’t have proof of training, you can be asked to cease all clean up activities and be required to use an environmental contractor. UAP is offering chemical spill response training in your area to prepare your employees to respond to an emergency. The training satisfies the OSHA requirements for emergency responders, and includes eight hours of training covering: Spill response procedures, decontamination, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, chemical storage and handling, and more. Registration fee for the course includes textbooks, DOT emergency response handbook, and handout materials.
